Alan Gault is an American artist living in Alexandria, Virginia.

Though native to Texas, he has spent several years living on the East Coast and, most recently, in Germany before returning to his hometown. During his time abroad, he explored much of western and southern Europe, studying a wide array of art and architecture. While his art is a culmination of his experiences, he is heavily influenced by the use of paint application and color from post-World-War II-era abstract expressionism.

Although he employs a variety of media, his paintings are primarily acrylic or oil on canvas. Early paintings in his portfolio experiment with a variety of techniques with acrylics, while his more current works are primarily oil. His recent exploration into oil colors allows him to manipulate depth and texture, creating luminosity unique to the medium.

He paints as a personal expression but with the hope that his art will connect with all those who view it on an emotional or spiritual level – empathizing or inspiring his audience.
